으로 암기해두면 여러모로 유용한 패턴이다.

( 괄호 ) 안에 있는 의미만 바꾸어 주면, 

상황에 적절한 표현으로 다양하게 활용할 수 있는 패턴이다.

He played an energetic role in winning the final game.

My father played a decisive role in making me pursue becoming a doctor.

role 대신에 part 를 사용하는 경우도 많다.

He played an important part in winning this bidding for new business.
