회사에서 점심을 먹고 난 후, 자주 들르던 곳이 있다.

바로 공차(Gong Cha)이다.

회사 동료가 나에게 공차를 사주기도 하고, 나도 가끔씩 동료들에게 공차를 쏠 때도 있었다.

그 중에서도 내가 제일 좋아했던,

Milk Tea with Pearl... No Sugar... No Ice....

그런데 이제 공차가 싱가폴에서 사라진 것 같다.

주말에 집 앞 쇼핑몰에 있던 공차를 찾았는데,

공차가 사라지고 새로운 브랜드로 바뀌어 있었다.

수소문을 해보니, 그동안 공차 판권을 가지고 사업을 해오던 싱가폴 로칼 기업이 더이상 공차를 운영하지 않기로 했다는 것이다.

공차 사업을 하던 회사는 그대로 인데, 아마 브랜드만 바꿔서 사업을 하는 것 같다.

어쩔 수 없는 것이니 이해는 하면서도, 마음 한편으론 아쉬운 기분도 느껴졌다.

그래도 싱가폴에서 공차와 함께했던 추억들이 참 많았는데 말이다.

After having lunch at the company, there was a place where I visited frequently.

It was Gong Cha.

My colleagues used to buy me one, and I also used to treat my colleagues.

There was one I liked most.

Milk Tea with Pearl... No Sugar... No Ice....

But now it seems to have disappeared from Singapore.

I visited one on the shopping mall near my home this weekend, the Gong Cha disappeared, and the new brand one was there.

I asked around about it, and I found out that the local company which ran Gong Cha in Singapore decided no longer to run Gong Cha.

It looks like the company still runs business in the same areas throughout the Singapore, but they have launched the new brand.

Even though I understand the business world, I felt a bit sad in my mind, because I have had many memories related to Gong Cha ever since I came to Singapore.
